About the Performers

Joenne Dumitrascu
Canadian musical artist Joenne Dumitrascu, born Oana Dumitrascu, began her musical journey in Europe before continuing her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto. She holds degrees from the Glenn Gould School, The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and furthered her training at institutions such as the Hochschule für Muzik und Theater München, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and the Royal College of Music in London. Dumitrascu completed her doctorate at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she trained under Philip Setzer of the nine-time Grammy-winning Emerson String Quartet.

Dumitrascu made her orchestral debut at 14 with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and has performed internationally at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Jordan Hall, and the Romanian Atheneum. She has recorded for various major broadcasting companies and appeared in numerous prestigious music festivals. Her collaborations include performances with members of the Emerson String Quartet and acclaimed composer Joan Tower.

Jelena Cingara
Dr. Jelena Cingara is an accomplished pianist with an active career in the United States, Canada, and Europe. She has given solo, chamber, and collaborative recitals in Italy, Serbia, the US, and Canada. Cingara holds a DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Utah and has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Libby Gardner Concert Hall.

Cingara has a strong background in both classical and Broadway repertoires, having played in productions like "The Last Boy" and "The Kiss of the Spider Woman." Her extensive experience includes accompanying singers and preparing them for Broadway-style performances. She has been recognized in numerous piano competitions and has received several scholarships and teaching assistantships throughout her career.
